Reflection : 1st Assignment

By summarizing empirical study related to CALL (Computer assisted Language Learning) is actually giving chance to the students to get better understanding on what it is all about.

Why? It is because…

•   Summarizing will encourage students to read the whole articles and understand it. 
•   Students must re-write what they understand in their own words.
•  Students will get familiar on how others/researchers applied call in language teaching.

But, students must know their ability by not to choose a long articles or journal to be summarized. This is because…

•  It leads to the plagiarism where students tend to copy the important part in the article if the article is lengthy.

•  Students tend to paste it on to their work without synthesizing or paraphrasing it.

So, we had chosen an appropriate article. Short, simple and understandable. This is because we did not want to lead to plagiarism. As we done this assignment, it makes us aware of plagiarism. Whatever we want to quote from other researchers, we will paraphrase and synthesize first. The benefits that we got from this assignment are:-

•  We got the ideas what CALL is. Before this, we did not know about CALL. However, by doing this assignment, we got the clear idea about CALL. 

• CALL can make our teaching and learning process become more interesting and enjoyable.

There are also some problems that occurred when we did this assignment. At first, our research that we choose already taken by other group in section 1. Actually, we already did the summarizing part. So, we have to choose another article to summarize it. And, the problem is, the due date for post everything on the blog only left two days. Thus, we put an extra effort in finding the research on CALL. As  Muslim students, we have to be patient and always thought that every single problems are the way to succeed. So, we did not blame other students on behave they got the same research as us. We actually tolerate in this case. In Islam, we have to tolerate and consider with each other.
