ISLAMIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE

"And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you.''
In short, Muhammad was a perfect model of politeness, fine manners and decency, which he taught through his practical example to the rugged, rough and illiterate people of the desert who, as a result, became the teachers and leaders of the world. His behaviour towards people, men or women, rich or poor, adult or child, was the same.
In Islam, it is not spending money alone that counts as charity; talking to somebody in a decent way also comes in the same context. Now, one can feel the importance Islam gives to moral values and good manners.
`Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: the speech of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was so clear that all those who listened to it would understand it.
[Abu Dawud].
Interpreting `Aishah's report, some commentators say that Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to speak clearly and decisively. However, it may also mean that, while speaking, he would pause upon his words in such a way that each and every word which came from his lips appeared detached from the other. He was never like those who speak quickly and their words are mixed up with each other. This Hadith reflects the Prophet's eloquence as well as his due care and decency in putting in his viewpoint to the convenience of his audience.
In conclusion, Islam encourages us to be polite all the time and with all humans, Therefore, we need to choose what type of words should we use and which one is suitable more with old or young man, Muslims or non-Muslims and Arabic or non-Arabic.

  1. This aspect is clear. Should have linked Discourse analysis and politeness and hence islamization cohesively to make them more explicit.
